I’m sitting in the airport awaiting my final boarding call for EuroTrip 2009.

I love my friend Anne, but I have to reiterate that the French do not do organization and travel very well (and technology to that point). I remember now why I booked myself 3 1/2 hours between my landing and take-off.

Getting through Charles de Gaulle airport is more by chance than by design. It’s impossible to get any food here (I swear the woman behind the coffee counter didn’t know how to make espresso. She turned on the steam machine, put a cup under it and filled about 5 cups with steam before most of the line walked away).

And I’m having one whale of a time connecting to the Internet despite paying for the right to do so. Still…

There have been no major travel gaffes along the way, which is a great thing. I’m quite happy about that. It’s always the concern when you’re jetting around from place to place.

I’ve been lucky. John, Aimee, Katz, Nina and others have helped me find my way around Europe without a hiccup.  A little snag here at the end, when I’m in the airport where my final flight takes place, is not really anything to get worked up about.

(I’m more annoyed by this silly Internet connection as anyone who knows me can attest to.)

This will post sometime around 5 am — or 10 1/2 hours before I get home. I’ll disembark sometime around 3:45 in Cincinnati and, after going through customs, meet my parents around the baggage claim.

Thanks to everyone who read, commented, emailed and even those of you who just trolled :)

The next great adventure won’t be quite as epic — my move to Muncie — but certainly an important milestone in my life.
