Brad King of The Geeky Press hosts The Downtown Writers Jam Podcast, where writers and authors discuss what drives them to tell stories. You can subscribe to the podcast on iTunes, subscribe on Google Play Music Podcastlisten on Stitcher, or listen (or download) on the web.

You can also sign up for my newsletter to keep up on the podcast, my writing projects, and generally cool literary shit.

Ben H. Winters is the author of the best selling book Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters as well as the The Last Policeman trilogy, and a relatively recent Indianapolis transplant. He sat down with Brad to talk about his utter lack of direction in his early writing career and his daily writing routine that involves no Internet and tons of structure. At the end, he talks about his newest counter-factual novel — currently under construction — that explores an America where the Civil War never happened, and slavery was never abolished.
