HoosierLit (Spring 2017)

The Geeky Press began in 2014 as a writing collective and an experiment in independent publishing. Our mission: create a vibrant writing community in Indianapolis that created a space for writers to work, host networking events where writers could get together, run retreats that gave writers the room to complete their projects, and publish the best writing we could find.

With HoosierLit, we wanted to create a publication and platform for writers from, or with ties to, Indiana. And so in late 2016, we put out our call for submissions, and waited. In the end, we accepted 26 pieces (only 24 will run) for HoosierLit, which for those doing the math is an acceptance rate of 17 percent, a rather discriminating number for the inaugural publication.

What you are reading is the the beginning of what we hope is a long, interesting discussion with Indiana writers and readers from around the world.

If you're interested in keeping up with my writing projects, I’ll overlook your bad judgement on that and instead say thank you. A writer's life blood is readers. Without you, I'm just a crazy guy sitting in his office furiously screaming on the page for no reason. So not to put any pressure on you, but everything now depends on you
